The further we dive into the ultra-connected digital age of internet and social media, the more complex relationships become. Everyone has a microphone, and everyone has the ability to use that microphone how they please.

A good example of this is the growing feud between YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul and UFC President Dana White that nobody would have predicted just a couple years ago. Paul has dedicated his last two years to calling out just about anyone with two hands, resulting in a 5-0 record against some questionable competition.

One of the main targets in Paul’s line of fire has been the face of the UFC in Dana White. Recently, a fed-up White responded to Paul’s accusation that he is a cocaine user by promising to agree to random drug testing if Paul subsequently agreed to random steroid testing.

Paul’s response didn’t acknowledge the challenge. Instead, he issued his own challenge to White.

Ah, yes. Jake Paul, a man of the people!

Realistically, there was never any chance that White was going to adhere to demands from Paul simply to get him into the octagon. White, in his own response, called out Paul for not having acknowledged the steroid usage claim.

Annnnnnddddddd, Paul responded again! From the beaches of St. Barths, Paul agreed to steroid testing in a hyper-edited video in which he took an out-of-context snippet of White’s response in which he says “I use cocaine” and played it repeatedly.

There’s a very good chance that this results in more yapping, and nothing ends up coming of it. Still, if the goal is to entertain, this has at the very least been entertaining to watch unfold.

You’re up, Mr. White.
