Hundreds, probably even thousands, of people are told to delete their accounts on a daily basis but none of them actually listen. However, that all changed on Saturday after a Cubs fan was called out by his favourite team on Twitter.

During the Cubs’ tilt with the Chicago White Sox on Saturday evening, relief pitcher Carl Edwards Jr. entered the game in the eighth inning and surrendered three earned runs in less than an inning of work. While this was taking place, a Cubs fan by the name of Kevin Cooney sent out a tweet saying that the team needs to send Edwards to Triple-A.

That’s when the Cubs’ social team stepped up to the plate and went to bat for the relief pitcher.

The social team made a very good point in their response as it was the first time Edwards had given up a run in an appearance since March 31, and it was just the second game this season where he’s surrendered a run. The Cubs requested that Cooney removed his tweet, but instead he saw himself out and deleted his entire account.

Don’t mess with the Cubs’ Twitter account. And if you do, make sure you get your facts straight first.
