Connor McDavid picked up another pair of points on Sunday night to extend his point streak to 14 games and to give him at least one point in every game this season, and he made a little bit of history by doing so.
By reaching the 600-point mark in just his 421st career game and before turning 25, McDavid joined an extremely short list that features some of the greatest names in hockey history.
McDavid’s first point of the night tied him with Paul Coffey for 8th youngest player (24 years, 305 days) in NHL history to reach 600 career points, but he required the sixth-fewest games to hit the 600-point mark, trailing just Wayne Gretzky (274), Mario Lemieux (323), Peter Stastny (394), Mike Bossy (400) and Jari Kurri (419).
The progression for McDavid has been absolutely wild. It took McDavid 92 games to hit the 100-point mark, but took him just 53 games to go from 500 career points to 600 career points.
