It’s the most unbelievable story of the NHL season and it just keeps getting crazier: The Vegas Golden Knights are the Stanley Cup favourites on at least one betting site.
Bodog just released their latest betting odds for the Stanley Cup and the Vegas Golden Knights lead the pack at 9/2. When you really think it through, it does make sense. They’re the first team through the first round, so they really should have the best odds. Every other team still has the risk of losing their current matchup, so they get a slight advantage.
Combine that with the fact that it’s actually user behaviour that decides a lot of these odds and it doesn’t mean that much, but still these are the current Stanley Cup betting odds.
Vegas Golden Knights 9/2
Nashville Predators 5/1
Tampa Bay Lightning 11/2
Boston Bruins 6/1
Winnipeg Jets 15/2
Pittsburgh Penguins 8/1
San Jose Sharks 10/1
Columbus Blue Jackets 18/1
Toronto Maple Leafs 20/1
Washington Capitals 20/1
Philadelphia Flyers 40/1
New Jersey Devils 50/1
Colorado Avalanche 66/1
Minnesota Wild 100/1
Anaheim Ducks 125/1
Now, the Anaheim Ducks currently have 125/1 odds to win the Stanley Cup and they’re down 3-0 in their series after coming in with home-ice advantage. Somehow, the Golden Knights actually had worse odds when they started the season.
When Bodog opened their odds for the season (June 12), they had the Vegas Golden Knights at 150/1 to win the Cup. No other team had worse than 75/1 odds.
