All eyes were on Johnny Manziel in San Diego today, as the former Heisman Trophy winner showcased his arm in front of several NFL scouts at the University of San Diego’s pro day.
13 NFL teams (Bears, Browns, Chargers, Giants, Chiefs, Jets, Patriots, Raiders, Titans, Lions, Jaguars, Panthers and Buccaneers) sent personnel to watch him work out, although it’s conceivable that few teams could’ve been there to scout players from USD.
The 5'11'' QB came in at weighing 200-pounds. The 25-year-old has been working out with noted quarterback guru George Whitfield in hopes of landing a gig in either the CFL or NFL.
TSN’s Dave Naylor believes Johnny Football will play in the CFL this season.
After Manziel finished his workout, he tweeted out his thanks for USD for letting him participate in the pro day.
The Tyler, Texas, product owns a 2-4 recod in the NFL with seven career touchdowns and seven interceptions on 1,500 yards. Numerous off-field incidents, legal battles and substance abuse issues have postponed a potential return to professional football. The Browns released Manziel in March of 2016. The former Texas Auggies QB will play in a development league next in Austin, Texas, called the developmental football league.
It's officially Comeback SZN, folks.
