Clay Matthews was just looking to have some fun. But a scary moment in a baseball game left him with a busted nose.
The Packers threw a charity event in which players were invited to hit the diamond. Matthews, likely thinking nothing could possibly go wrong, was on the receiving end of a line drive that went directly into his face. The initial scene was frightening.
Visibly upset, Matthews was quick to get back to his feet before exiting the field. Packers fans watching the event probably couldn’t breathe after seeing their star go down, but the linebacker, in true football player fashion, was able to get through the pain. After making a trip to the hospital, Matthews updated his fans on Twitter.
The game continued after Matthews’ departure, and the team wisely added a batting practice screen when wide receiver Davante Adams hit the mound next. But then again, there probably should have been one up in the first place. Especially when you’re dealing with million dollar athletes.
Matthew’s hit to the face was bad, but at least he can feel good knowing that the world has seen worse.
