Kevin Durant likely has a torn Achilles and Charles Barkley is already pointing fingers.
Just a day after Durant left Game 5 with a non-contact injury, Barkley expressed his frustration with the Warriors for pressuring the 30-year-old to play despite in his eyes, not being ready to.. Durant returned from injury after being sidelined for the past eight games but was forced to leave after awkwardly going down just minutes into the second quarter. His night (and postseason) ended with 11 points in 12 minutes.
Tell us how you really feel, Chuck!
KD’s injury really couldn’t have come at a worse time for both him and the organization. The former MVP is set to become a free agent this summer and could miss all of next season rehabbing. Meanwhile, the Warriors are just a game shy of giving up their hopes of a three-peat. Drake, along with other athletes offered their support to Durant after he went to the tunnel.
The hardest-hitting reaction of all, however, came from GS general manager Bob Myers, who was visibly shaken up while fielding questions with the media after the win. Myers signed Durant to a three year deal in 2017.
Regardless of who’s fault it is, not having KD in action for the rest of the series is a huge blow to both the Warriors, and all basketball fans. We wish KD nothing but the best in his recovery.
