The party hasn’t stopped for the Washington Capitals since they captured the franchise’s first Stanley Cup in franchise on Thursday night.
The players have already been honoured at a Nationals game, were seen partying on the streets, and chugging all sorts of stuff out of the top of the Cup with Tiesto. But today, Caps fans chose a bit more of a classier way to celebrate their victory. Defenceman Dmitry Orlov stepped up and cracked open his customized bottle of wine from the 2015 Winter Classic which was played between the Caps and Chicago Blackhawks. Washington won the contest 3-2 in D.C.
That’s a big, big bottle.
Some of the Caps have already consumed quite a few glasses of liquor, but they don’t seem interested in stopping any time soon. At least captain Alexander Ovechkin was able to get a few hours of shuteye beforehand.
A bottle with such great significance was just waiting to be opened for an occasion like this. The party will continue for the Capitals when they take part in their championship parade on Tuesday.
