Everyone knew revenge was coming in some way or another.
No one seemed more rattled than Ryan Reaves after Caps forward Tom Wilson’s controversial hit on Golden Knights forward Jonathan Marchessault. Wilson appeared to blindside Marchessault with a late hit after the latter completed a pass. After the game, Vegas’ enforcer expressed his frustration with the play.
In the second period of tonight’s Game 2 tilt, Reaves avenged his teammate with a brutal shot to Wilson’s face. Wilson hit the deck immediately after.
Unfortunately for Reaves, he was sent to the box and Washington’s Brooks Orpik scored shortly after he left the box.
Caps fans shouldn’t have been surprised, but were still upset nonetheless.
The series is in its early stages and we could see some more fireworks between the two heavyweights as it progresses. Reaves just might have to be a little more clever about it next time around.
