The Utica Comets hosted the Rochester Americans on Wednesday night and fans of the home team left very happy with their team’s performance. Not only did they get to witness a victory on home ice, but they were also treated to a few highlight reel plays.
With the two teams locked in a 1-1 tie early on in the second period and playing 4-on-4 hockey, the Comets took a 2-1 lead thanks to a ridiculous assist by Mike Carcone. The Ajax, Ontario native pulled off a crazy spin-o-rama and then capped off the play by setting up Cole Cassels for his fourth goal of the season.
Although it would have been much nicer if the 21-year-old kept the puck on his stick and buried it himself, the former third round draft pick made sure his teammate’s efforts did not go to waste as he put the puck in the back of the net.
Both Cassels and Carcone finished the night with two points each as Cassels picked up a goal and an assist and Carcone had two assists in the Comets’ 3-2 shootout victory.
