The Vancouver Canucks play host to the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night and it’s going to be a special one for the home crowd.
Ahead of the game, the Canucks are going to pay tribute to Alex Burrows by adding his name and number to the Canucks’ Ring of Honour. As a way to get the night started, every player on the team took to the ice rocking a No. 14 Burrows jersey.
As a way for fans to show their love for the former Canuck, the team set up a massive wall outside the rink for fans to sign and share messages on.
The tributes were happening around the city as the Vancouver International Airport honoured Burrows by unofficially dubbing gate B14 the Alex Burrows gate.
It’s fitting that the Canucks are hosting Burrows’ tribute on a night when they play the Ottawa Senators, the only other team Burrows suited up for during his career.
Burrows tallied 193 goals and 384 points in 822 games with the Canucks, and added 12 goals and 25 points in 91 games with the Senators.
