Among the standout rookies from this year’s NBA draft class, we can include Memphis Grizzlies forward and Vancouver native Brandon Clarke.

Anyone who remembers Clarke’s dunk reel from March Madness earlier this year is already well aware of this guy’s hops, but now he’s putting the NBA on notice. He dropped a career-high 25 points on the Wizards, and delivered what may be one of the best dunks of the season so far.

The center, Ian Mahinmi, literally just stood there. He definitely did not think Clarke could get up like that.

After being projected as a potential lottery pick by some analysts, Clarke fell to the Grizzlies with 21st overall pick, and won Summer League MVP shortly after. Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins told reporters after the Wizards game that Clarke would be a top-10 pick in a do-over of the draft, and Ja Morant, the other standout rookie in Memphis, feels the same.

Clarke ranked 8th in the latest edition of our Canadian NBA power rankings, trailing his teammate Dillon Brooks among others.

He wasn’t the only Canadian to get on the highlight reel with a big dunk on Saturday, as Jamal Murray — usually more of a shooter! — decided to go for the rare, always cool off-glass alley-oop to himself.
