Derrick Rose was expected to be the future of the Chicago Bulls as he came flying out of the gates by winning the NBA Rookie of the Year award and capturing the NBA MVP award two years later. However, after missing the entire 2012-13 season with a torn ACL and appearing in just 127 games over the next three seasons, many fans thought Rose’s career was over.

Rose managed to turn things around in his lone season as a New York Knick, but injuries plagued him yet again once he moved to Cleveland. After considering calling it quits, Rose decided to give it one more shot and the basketball world is happy that he did because he’s shown many signs of vintage D-Rose this season with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

On Wednesday night, the 30-year-old returned to the place where it all began and the Bulls faithful showed him nothing but love as they showered him with MVP chants whenever he went to the free throw line late in the game.

The Timberwolves point guard dropped a team-high 24 points and added eight assists, three rebounds and two steals in the T-Wolves’ 119-94 victory, and he seemed to appreciate all the love he got in his return to Chicago.

This season, Rose is averaging 18.5 points, 4.6 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game in nine starts and 30 total appearances.
