When it comes to hockey style, there are a few main aesthetics that everyone looks for. How’s their smile? Any missing chiclets from an errant stick or puck? How bout their equipment? They rocking some dusty gear or out there looking fly as hell?

While those are important, they definitely do not overshadow the importance of flow in hockey. How your hair looks can define you as a player. Literally no one forgets Jaromir Jagr’s mullet, Erik Karlsson’s luscious locks, or Al Iafrate’s… thing.

For Jack Shanahan, son of former NHLer and current Toronto Maple Leafs President Brendan Shanahan, the lettuce took a serious hit when he decided to take a stab at cutting his own hair back in May.

He's turned the bad into good, and used the traumatic experience as an opportunity to design and create hats aimed at raising awareness and funds for healthcare workers at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto.

Now we can all enjoy the experience of attempting to cut our own hair!

…on second thought, maybe we’ll stick to the barbershops for now.
