NHL headshots are a bit complex. Most of them are pretty normal but some, well, stick out like a bit of a sore thumb.

In comes Pittsburgh Penguins forward Brandon Tanev.

Tanner’s look is a little different than what we’re used to seeing from him this year, at least from what it was when he was in Winnipeg just a few seasons ago. The flow is a little longer and like so many players have done before him, he decided to go no smile and it made for an… interesting but also frightening photo. The man looks like he just saw a ghost as the photo was taken and he’s probably hoping for a re-do at this point.

“When you have to play an entire NHL regular season in four months…”

We actually were able to talk with Brandon on a BarDown Live during Ontario’s first lockdown and we can assure you his flow was not as long at the time. One thing we did learn about the 29-year-old is that he had been watching a ton of Seinfeld, so maybe that had to do with it a bit? He actually kind of giving a Kramer face if you think about it, just saying!

Hey NHL players, maybe start smiling for these things a little more? Just a thought.
