Brad Marchand and Leo Komarov are the resident pests for their respective teams, and are two of the most effective at their jobs in the league.
Marchand definitely wins in the skill category, but both of them are pretty good at getting under people’s skin. Still, it seems like Marchand brings out the big guns when he’s facing off against Komarov. Last season, they were overheard chirping each other when Ray Ferraro was stationed between them.
Last night, Marchand and Komarov got into it during a scrum behind the Leafs’ net. They were both assessed minor penalties, but that wasn’t their only interaction. Marchand also gave Komarov a little peck on the cheek.
David Pastrnak alluded to some of Marchand’s elite chirping techniques, but sometimes it’s not always words that really get under a player’s skin. The Leafs ended up coming away with back to back wins over the weekend, but we’re giving Marchand another win in the battle of the pests.
He’s a very tough match up on any night. But at least he’ll give you a signed stick after the game.
