Jake Allen made 29 saves for his first shutout of the season on Thursday, and somehow he is the second most talked about goaltender on his team.
Tyler Stewart is a season-ticket holder for the St. Louis Blues, and on Thursday he got to live the dream of being an official member of his favourite team. Realistically, he was probably really hoping that he wouldn’t be called upon.
Stewart got the call as a result of Carter Hutton, Allen’s regular backup, injuring his back during pregame warmups. The Blues immediately called up Ville Husso from AHL San Antonio, but he would not be able to make it up in time for the start of the game.
Luckily for the Blues, Allen was putting on a show. Husso would eventually make it to the game, relieving Stewart of his NHL duties, but the Blues and their faithful appreciated the effort nonetheless.
