On Friday night, 17-year-old Canadian basketball star R.J. Barrett made his decision as to where he will be playing college basketball next year and he went with Duke University.
After months of visits and phone calls, the Mississauga, Ontario native made his decision during a special edition of SportsCentre from the Lionhead Golf and Conference Centre in Brampton, Ontario, on Friday night and had his new threads ready to go for the announcement.
Barrett narrowed his decision down to Duke, Oregon and the University of Kentucky and decided on the Blue Devils.
Considering heβs not only the top ranked Canadian prospect, but a top prospect in general, Blue Devil supporters were pretty pumped up about the youngsterβs decision.
Barrett played a huge role in Canadaβs gold medal championship at the U19 World Championship where he averaged 21.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.7 steals in seven games, and he was also named the tournament MVP and made the All-Tournament Team.
