If you take a gander at the NHL goal scoring leaders this year, there's a couple names really stand out.

One being Flyers defensive forward now turned goal scoring machine Sean Couturier, who’s on a torrid pace this season with 26 goals and is just two off Capitals sniper Alex Ovechkin for the league lead heading into Friday night’s action.

Tied with the Flyers centre is New York Islanders forward Anders Lee, who’s emerging as one of the better left wingers in the game playing on a line with John Tavares and breakout player of the year candidate Josh Bailey.

The trio has become one of the most offensively dominating lines in the NHL, with all three players sitting in the Top 40 in total points across the league. Lee, who makes a living in front of the net battling defenceman to make room for Tavares and Bailey to maneuver, has become one of the best net front presences in the league, and is on pace to hit 46 goals on the season, despite not being named an all-star.

When looking at potential Rocket Richard winner, one could easily be convinced that he’s not exactly built like a hockey player, but rather, a football player. Some would even say he looks like he’s a linebacker based on the way his 6-foot-3, 231-pound frame is constructed.

Turns out, the power forward was actually a quarterback during his high school days in Minnesota. After passing for 1,982 yard and running 1,105 on the ground, Lee tallied 37 touchdowns in just ten games during his senior season at Edina High School.

On top of being named the 2008 Minnesota Gatorade Player of the year, Lee went on to be selected 152nd overall the following year by the Islanders in the 6th round of the NHL Entry Draft.

Had the hockey thing not worked out, it’s not entirely out of the question that Lee would’ve been a NCAA Division I QB insteafd of attending the University of Notre Dame as a hockey player.
