The NBA revealed the three finalists for the end of the season awards on Wednesday night and one of the finalists for the NBA Coach of the Year award happens to be Dwane Casey.
However, since the Raptors relieved Casey of his coaching duties just five days ago, their congratulatory tweet got a lot of mixed reactions from Raptors fans and NBA fans across North America.
Fans have already been talking about how awkward it will be if Casey ends up winning the end of the year award and has to receive it while he’s still looking for a new job, but clearly this tweet was already awkward enough for most of them.
Casey will go up against Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens and Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder for NBA Coach of the Year, which will be awarded on June 25.
