Andrei Vasilevskiy has been one of the best goalies in the NHL since taking over the starting job in Tampa Bay, so to say that he’s playing some of his best hockey right now is pretty terrifying and intimidating for anyone trying to get a puck past him these days.

The 26-year-old improved to a league-best 13-3-1 on Tuesday night and he did so by picking up his third consecutive shutout.

Vasilevskiy became the first Lightning goalie in franchise history to record a shutout in three straight games, and it’s also his third straight shutout against the Dallas Stars dating back to the Stanley Cup Final.

As impressive as his shutout streak has been, especially in today’s NHL where shutouts are a rare thing, he still has quite a few goalless periods to go if he wants to set the NHL record for longest shutout streak in terms of games and minutes.

Only seven goalies in NHL history have earned a shutout in four straight games, only two have done it in five straight games, and only one has done it in six straight games; and only one of them accomplished the feat after 1950.

When it comes to the actual duration of the shutout streak in terms of minutes, he’s still 260 minutes behind Alec Connell for the NHL record.

Vasilevskiy has only allowed 28 goals on 479 shots against over 17 games, and has a 1.65 goals against average and a .942 save percentage to show for it.
