Everyone loves a goalie goal.
We’re not sure if it’s because we don’t see them very often, or because we just love when goalies get a little love, we just know that when a tendy puts one in the opposite net, it’s pretty magical.
Tristan Jarry, the netminder for the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, had one of those magical moments on Wednesday afternoon, when he netted one in an arena packed full of children for a school day game in Springfield.
14 was the magic number for Jarry, a WHL alumni and Surrey, BC, native, as his tally made him the 14th goalie in AHL history to put up a goal, and he accomplished it 14 seconds after his shutout was spoiled, and the Thunderbirds pulled themselves within a two goal margin.
Yeah, we’ll say a goal makes up for it.
The Pittsburgh Penguins affiliate team edged the Springfield Thunderbirds 5-1, and, obviously, after becoming the first ever WBS Penguin in the club’s 20 year history to score a goalie goal, and stopping 30 shots, Jarry earned first star honours.
Though the Pens are fairly set for goalies, if they need a scoring winger, they know they’ll get a complete player out of Jarry.
