Just like that, Johnny Manziel’s first CFL season is in the books. It’s not quite where he would want to be, as the Montreal Alouettes team he was traded to halfway through the season ended up finishing 5-13. Just one game above the Toronto Argonauts for last place in the league.

Manziel didn’t quite come out and dominate the way some expected heading into the season. However, he did show progress both on and off the field. The former Heisman Trophy recipient who became known for his off-field antics genuinely seems to have cleaned himself up based on his love for the game. On Sunday, Manziel reflected on his first season the same way he has been the whole year – humbly.

Sounds like a guy that is ready to continue his comeback to professional football. While it’s no secret the NFL is his ultimate goal, he seems to have come into his own as a CFL player.

What happens in the future remains unknown, but it’s hard not to cheer for a good redemption story.
