The Winnipeg Jets were shellacked on Wednesday night, after allowing five goals in the third period of a 7-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche. For the team with the best record in the Central Division, it certainly wasn’t their best performance of the season, and in fact this loss puts them on a three-game losing streak.

So it’s understandable that Lowry was blunt about this latest loss, when he spoke to reporters after the game.

This will happen to any team, even the good ones (although the Tampa Bay Lightning seem strangely exempt so far this season), so we’ll see how the Jets pick themselves up from this mini-slump.

Interestingly, however, TradeCentre is just around the corner and the Jets have long been regarded as a buyer. They may try to bolster their roster for the playoffs, and while Patrik Laine’s scoring slump in the new year may seem to be an obstacle, it may just work to their benefit at the deadline by providing some cap flexibility.
