Ahhhh, the NFL playoffs. A time where heroes are made, rivalries are renewed, and the loser-go-home format is so intense that people could almost die from excitement.
Seriously, it’s gotten to that level.
With two NFL playoff matches on tap for Sunday, neither match disappointed. The day began with the Jacksonville Jaguars proving all their haters wrong and pulling off a massive upset over the 2nd seed Pittsburgh Steelers, advancing them to the AFC Championship where they will face the ever-present New England Patriots. The second game featured Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints visiting Minnesota for a clash with the Vikings.
The game saw the Vikings put up a 17-0 lead by halftime before promptly giving it all back in the second half. A late 43-yard Will Lutz field goal to put the Saints on top looked like it could be the final puzzle piece to yet another disappointing playoff exit for the purple and gold. And then the wheels came off the rails.
In an inexplicably broken coverage with just second to spare allowed Stefon Diggs to trot his way, and the whole Vikings team, into the NFC Championship where they will meet the Philadelphia Eagles.
In one of the more exciting moments in recent playoff history, the home crowd absolutely erupted with shock and glee.
According to Apple, the excitement almost became dangerously high. Apparently during the excitement, Apple watches began sending out alerts that people’s heartrates were starting to reach concerning levels. So concerning that Apple Watches began sending out alerts that the user may be having a heart attack.
Luckily we have not heard anything along the lines of people actually suffering heart attacks so far, not even the 100-year old heart of Mille was going to miss out on this finish.
Hopefully the conference championship games aren’t quite as exciting… or wait, what are we hoping for here?
