We’ve all seen a game delay or two in our time, but fans watching the WHL’s Kootenay Ice defend home ice against the Brandon Wheat Kings on Wednesday were also witness to a rather unusual disruption.
RCMP officers stopped the game, and spoke to referees before eventually walking off with a goal judge in the arena.
The scene in the arena appears to have been pretty surreal.
At this time, the specific reason for stoppage doesn’t appear to be public knowledge, and there is no confirmation on whether the goal judge was arrested or removed for other reasons; the game has since resumed.
UPDATE: The Kootenay Ice shared on Twitter that the goal judge was removed due to a fire.
