In March of 2015, Dana White and Conor McGregor strolled through the TSN studios to promote McGregor’s match against Jose Aldo at UFC 194.
Between radio and television interviews, we managed to bring White and McGregor into a boardroom where a television set-up up with a PlayStation4, two controllers and the inaugural edition of the EA Sports’ UFC video game.
Despite the fight still being a half a year away, we decided McGregor needed to prep, so we came to the conclusion that he should fight his boss…virtually, of course.
Connor obviously picked himself, while Dana fought as Aldo, and just like the real fight, the self-proclaimed “Notorious MMA” came out on top. The only difference is that McGregor won with a TKO victory with just 12 seconds left in the first round.
What’s funny about the virtual fight compared to the real one is that McGregor ended up knocking out Aldo in thirteen seconds into the real-life match, a fight that sent shockwaves through MMA and put McGregor on the map.
Fast forward 3.5 years later and McGregor is now trying to regain the UFC Lightweight Championship that he was stripped of. He'll be taking Khabib Nurmagomedov, who currently is the current champion, in a superfight which has been pegged the biggest match in UFC history.
