Referee abuse is real and it’s often most prevalent in the least excusable places.

Of course, there is going to be some anger and yelling at the NHL level. Players, coaches, fans and entire organizations have stakes in what goes on in professional games, so when the games are decided by a referee’s decision, people get fired up. Where that can mean significantly less is in minor hockey.

There’s no doubt that everyone likes to win, but the purpose is to have fun and develop as a hockey player. We’re pretty sure none of that is assisted by parents or supporters abusing referees.

So, this rink in Michigan has a more constructive place to direct your frustration.

Hopefully this works out for them, because referees could use all the help they can get. Honestly, they should just start using the whistle more. Anytime anybody chirps you, just blow the whistle and drown them out.

This guy had the right idea all along.
