There have been a lotttttt of complicated names in the NHL.
Few sports have a demographic that stretches as far as the NHL's, so it makes sense. Think about; there have been palyers from Canada, the US, Sweden, Russia, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Latvia, you name it! We took a look back through history and identified some of the names that hockey fans still remember as some of the hardest to pronounce today. A reminder; this isn't a final list, it's just SOME of the hardest names.
Enjoy!
Jonathan To-ews... Shouldn't it just be Taves? And how on earth does Byfuglien sound like Buff-lin? So many questions...
In fairness, Jesse left some pretty key names out that definitely warranted more consideration. Brady Skjei somehow is pronounced 'Shay'. Other names that could have made the cut include Shayne Gostisbehere and Teuvo Teräväinen. Andreas Athanasiou is also a pretty tough one.
We know there have been A TON in the past. So with that in mind... what's your hardest NHL name to pronounce?
