Selected with the second and third picks in the 1999 NHL Entry draft (Daniel, Henrik), the Swedes have played their entire career with Vancouver and have left a great imprint on the city. As they take another step towards the big 4 0, we took a look at some memorable, notable, and random facts about them.
1) United before the NHL

The Sedins' professional career took off before they came to North America, playing for the MODO Hockey Ornskoldsvik from 1997-2000. The two were born in Ornskoldsvik in 1980. Other players to play in the team's system include Peter Forsberg and Markus Naslund.
2) Hockey is in their blood
Their father, Tommy, played in the Modo system during the 1960's. He put Henrik and Daniel in organized hockey at the age of eight.
3) Slow starts to their NHL careers

The Sedins didn't make the biggest splash after entering the league together in 2000. Neither player broke the 40 point mark until their fourth year in North America.
4) Vancouver's point kings

Both Henrik and Daniel sit at the top of the Canucks' all-time points list. The former sits alone with 1,021, while Daniel is embarking on 1,000 with 986. Daniel leads the organization with 370 tallies while Henrik is the leader with 784 points.
5) Harness horse racing owners
In their spare time, the brothers are die-hard harness racing fans. They have even owned some of the animals in the past, with their best finish coming at the 2013 Elitloppet when their horse Nahar won the race.
6) One year left on their contracts
One year and $7 million is all that's left on both players' current contracts. At 37, the Canucks, a team rebuilding for the future, could choose to move on from their franchise players. It wouldn't even be shocking if they were gone before the end of next season.
7) One game away from eternal glory

Sorry Canucks fans, but this one had to be mentioned. Vancouver was one win away from capturing their first Stanley Cup in franchise history but lost back-to-back games to close out the 2011 Stanley Cup Final against the Boston Bruins. The 2006 Olympics told a bit of a different story at least, as both were members of the Swedish Olympic team that captured gold over Finland.
