With the 2021 NHL season coming to a close it is time for all disappointed fan bases to do one thing they know how to do best, look forward to next year.
Will Hill released their Stanley Cup odds for next season and there are some interesting things to notice.
Tampa Bay are not the favourites
If you look at the top of the list you’ll notice that Tampa Bay is NOT the favourite to 3-peat. Although they are WAY over the cap, the Lightning are still loaded all over their lineup with an anchor in net. Both teams ranked above them had an insane series so it’s not far fetched they are above them but you have to give love to the champs.
Jets are outside of the top 10
One of the most odd postseasons belonged to the Jets this year having it last a rare 8 games. However, the Jets are still one of the better teams in a league and ranking them 17th seems like a bit of stretch. They played 3 games in the series against Montreal without their best player and also have an elite goaltender. They also had Dubois for less than half the season and his chemistry being built with the team will only help them improve. If you wanna talk smack saying "they were smacked by the Habs," so was the team that is ranked NUMBER 1 to win it all. I rest my case.
3 teams are ranked last
The Kraken don’t even have a team yet they are still tied with not one but TWO teams in the league. Detroit and Buffalo are really deep in the water when it comes to how well they will do next season. Being time with a team that doesn’t exist yet though…yikes.
