Despite the fact that they lost their star quarterback in a season ending injury, the Philadelphia Eagles closed out the season strong and have marched their way through the playoffs into their first Super Bowl appearance since 2005.
While hard work and a dominant on-field performance over the Minnesota Vikings was the main factor in their advancement, they may have had a little luck from the most unlikely of sources – an NBA player.
Kyle Lowry, a native of Philadelphia, had an interesting fact pointed out to him to do with his altercation with Ben Simmons on Monday.
This was the first time that Kyle Lowry was ejected at Wells Fargo Center as an NBA player, but it’s not the first time he’s been ejected from a game there. Back when he played with Villanova, Lowry was ejected in a game against Kansas for committing a flagrant foul. The exact date was January 22, 2005. Now look up what was happening with the Eagles on that day.
That’s right, that’s twice now that Lowry has been ejected from a game at Wells Fargo during the same week the Eagles advanced to the Super Bowl. Even the Raptors’ point guard had to get in on this conversation.
Kyle Lowry, having grown up in Philly, may want to test this coincidence out again if the Eagles find themselves playing playoff football next year. Apparently his ejections are the key to success in Eagles nation.
