Zack Smith mocked his own equipment change with a novice-style addition to his gear

Zack Smith is fan favourite in Ottawa and is also loved by his teammates  and with his latest antics at practice it’s easy to see why.

Smith recently suffered a broken bone in his face and has been forced to wear a cage on his helmet and you can tell he felt a little silly about it. How could we tell that? Well, he’s feeling a little like a novice, clearly, because he’s decided to put his name on the front of his helmet like kids do in Timbits hockey.

The Senators could use some fun around their team after all the news surrounding them this week, and a character guy like Smith is always good to have around for that. Although, their 7-3 win probably helped a little bit as well.

If Tyler Seguin really ended up getting his “Best Guy” award brought into the NHL, we’d have to imagine that Smith’s teammates would nominate him.
