Matt Martin is without a doubt one of the toughest guys in the NHL. Through his 8 NHL seasons, the 28-year-old has racked up 803 penalty minutes in 520 career games and he’s dropped the gloves 80 times during the regular season in his young career.
However, as physical as he may be, Martin is also one of the kindest guys off the ice and does a lot for local communities through the Matt Martin Foundation.
This week, the Toronto Maple Leafs forward kicked off his annual Matt Martin Hockey Academy in New York and it’s a five-day on-ice instruction camp hosted by Martin himself.
Throughout the week, young hockey players will learn the basics and some skills from Martin and other NHLers, and will also get the chance to interact with Martin on the ice every single day.
The second day of the camp got underway on Tuesday and Martin decided to switch things up by playing between the pipes. Unfortunately for him, one of the campers got the best of him.
After the youngster went BarDown on Martin, the NHL veteran had some fun at his own expense but wanted his followers to know all the campers weren’t scoring on him.
As for Andersen, he hasn’t responded to his teammate's tweet just yet.
