Going to a baseball game allows you to sit in a crowd of people often made up from very different walks of life. You’ll experience the new baseball fans, the loud ones, the old timers, the traditionalists, and the one that are just there for the hotdogs and atmosphere. You’ll also see the baseball players, and the umps as well, but they’re not sitting in the stands rubbing elbows with you. At least, they usually aren’t.

One young fan showed up to a minor league baseball game between the Quad City River Bandits and the Lake Country Captains to do a little officiating of his own. While most fans would show up to the game representing a jersey or shirt wear their favourite player or team, this kid showed up in full umpire attire. He went on to call the game from his seat.

He looks pretty legit, and his costume is really sent over the top with an umpire’s clicker in his hand. While some may have thought it was another millennial checking his cellphone, the clicker is a device used by the homeplate umpire to keep track of balls, strikes, outs, and innings. Yup, this kid was fully dedicated – the best thing we’ve seen since the refs took over Maple Leaf Square.
