As March Madness gets underway, teams this year will be gathering in bubbles because of the pandemic — the men’s teams in Indianapolis, the women’s teams in San Antonio.

However, the resources provided in the different bubbles appear to be vastly different, as a coach from the Stanford women’s team revealed on social media. A side-by-side comparison of the men’s and women’s weight rooms in the bubble is going viral, with many voicing their frustration.

Many WNBA players have called out the NCAA for unequal treatment, including Sabrina Ionescu, A’ja Wilson, Tasha Cloud and more.

Much of the response on social media includes reference to Title IX provision, which requires the equal treatment of men and women in college athletics including the equipment and supplies provided to each.

There has been a strong movement in women’s sports for equal rights and their fair share in comparison to the men’s side, and to see such a transparent imbalance in their treatment at the NCAA tournament is just disheartening.
