The NHL revealed that Nashville Predators defenceman P.K. Subban will be on the cover of EA Sports’ NHL 19 during this year’s NHL Awards in Las Vegas and it turns out he won’t be the only one on the cover.
Nearly 20 years ago EA Sports switched things up by introducing more than one cover athlete when they named Chris Pronger as the cover athlete for the North American version of NHL 2000, Markus Naslund as the European version cover athlete, and Richard Smehlik as the Czech Republic version cover athlete. They haven’t done this every single year, but this year they will have a few cover athletes.
On Wednesday night, EA Sports unveiled that Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander will grace the cover of Sweden’s edition of the game, while Winnipeg Jets sniper Patrik Laine will be on the cover of the Finland edition of the game.
The Nylander edition of the game will only be available throughout Sweden, while the Laine edition will only be made available in Finland, so any fans in North America will have to wait another year before there’s a chance they see one of their players on the cover of an EA Sports NHL game in North America.
