When it comes to sports logos, everybody’s suddenly a design expert, and it makes sense why. The history of sports logos is a rich and soulful tapestry, highlighted by such icons as the Vancouver Canucks’ flying skate, the Toronto Raptors’ cartoon dinosaur and, of course, the incomprehensible but somehow charming logo of the old Quebec Nordiques.
While there’s no shortage of old NHL logos to reminisce over, there really isn’t much new territory to cover, either. (That’s kind of how history works.) So, we were inspired to reimagine logos from the NBA as modern day hockey logos.
Which of these is your favorite? Let us know!
(While we’re not really trying to die on any particular hills here, can we just opine that Toronto sports logos could really pick it up in the fun department?)
If you think you really know NHL logo history, maybe you should give our NHL jersey quiz a try. Fair warning, though: Even your average NHL fan would have trouble with some of these. How many members of the BarDown office can you beat out?
