Last week, Pittsburgh Panthers quarterback Kenny Pickett went viral for pulling off a fake slide and taking the ball all the way to the house for a 58-yard touchdown in the ACC title game.
It hasn’t even been a week since Pickett pulled off the fake slide but the NCAA has already gone ahead and banned the fake slide moving forward.
A memo from NCAA national coordinator of officials Steve Shaw stated that referees should interpret a fake slide as a player surrendering himself and should end the play, and the memo also mentioned that these types of plays should be blown dead by the field officials.
