We all know this photo.

The year was 1970 when Bobby Orr scored 40 seconds into overtime to win game 4-3, and complete sweep of the St Louis Blues to capture the Stanley Cup for the Bruins after a 29 year drought. The picture following the goal is one of the most iconic hockey photos of all time, and will forever go down as such.

With all that being said, we never really thought about what happened after the photo was taken.

It turns out that photographer Frank O’Brien took a very similar photo of Orr on a different occasion, one where he missed the net, but he also took a photo once Bobby hit the ground.

In short, he definitely didn’t do it gracefully.

While we can’t be positive that the Stanley Cup goal celebration ended this way, it definitely makes sense that he landed pretty weird based upon the way he’s soaring through the air.

The more you know, huh?!
