Though the Buffalo Sabres find themselves in a tougher division than they probably would have liked this season, they’re a very healthy 2-3-1 through their first six games of the year. They made some notable changes to their roster this season, from drafting Jack Quinn 8th overall, to their headline signing of Taylor Hall, to their acquisition of league veteran Eric Staal.
Staal is in his 18th year in the league, and has one Stanley Cup under his belt. Though he’s 36 years old, he’s yet to show many signs of slowing down. In his last four seasons in Minnesota, the eldest of the illustrious hockey family from Thunder Bay, ON, put up 65, 76, 52, and 47 points respectively.
These aren’t numbers to scoff at, and between the veteran leadership presence he brings to a room and his play on the ice, Staal is an excellent acquisition for the developing team.
Here's the thing: the Staal brothers have been in the league so long in such a quietly impactful way that we might have forgotten to appreciate how great they are. Not only that, but we have DEFINITELY slighted Eric Staal in failing to acknowledge his incredible hair.
Really, we mean this. It has truly been a crime to ignore it for this long, and we will no longer stand by and let Eric Staal’s impeccable flow go unnoticed.
We have been sleeping on this information for way too long. Just look at this photo from his draft day in 2003. His hair has ALWAYS been this luscious.
Not to mention this one from his Minnesota days. Come on, people!
Eric Staal, this is our apology to you. We have let this one slide for way too long. Your hair is awesome.
