Moss has been part of the fabric of Edmonton sports for years. He became the Oilers' locker room attendant in 1984 after he was recommended by none other than Wayne Gretzky, who he celebrated some Stanley Cup wins with. Joey is also a member of the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and recipient of the NHL Alumni Association's "Seventh Man Award."
Joey worked for the Oilers and Edmonton Football Team for decades. Whether it was his infectious enthusiasm and positivity or his singing of the national anthem, Joey inspired so many and the sports world honoured him with special messages.

We will miss you Joey and you will always live on through our memories. Our thoughts are with Joey’s loved ones. pic.twitter.com/5ucUQhcWQp

Heartbreaking to hear about Joey Moss passing away. He is the soul of the @EdmontonOilers. I’ll remember him singing the anthem w/pride, getting fired up about wrestling and always asking if I combed my hair with a pork chop. 💔 My deepest condolences to the Moss family. pic.twitter.com/Ssa0ZBcoSn

Joey was truly beloved, and blazed a trail for people with Downs Syndrome, raising awareness and understanding. He was as much a part of the sports scene in Edmonton as anyone I ever knew. #RIP https://t.co/L1DYOnBACg

#joeymoss was a fixture in our neighbourhood street hockey games. Here's a picture from Feb 1982 when Joey brought his friend Wayne to play with us for 4 hours. Joey was just really cool and we all loved him.

Godspeed Joey we won't forget you. #Legend #ASHOF pic.twitter.com/hvcNDKjo8M
Went to a lot of really bad hockey games from 07-14. Watching Joey Moss belt the anthem was sometimes the best part of the night. He brought the same energy and enthusiasm whether is was the SCF or a mid Jan game vs Minny 25 points out of the playoffs.
