The x’s and o’s of basketball seem to come easy to Doris Burke. She is one of the most insightful minds of colour commentary in basketball and showcases her talent on major networks like ESPN.

Burke is best known for her trailblazing in broadcasting and is to be inducted into the NBA hall of fame in September of 2018.

But perhaps less well known is that she was a dominant college hoops player during her time at Providence as a member of the women’s basketball team. She finished her career there second all-time in assists and eighth in points.

Go back even further to her high school career and she was tearing up the hardwood for Manasquan high school in New Jersey. Earlier this week NJ.com posted a video of some of Burke’s highlights during her senior season, when she led her school to a Shore Conference title.

You can view her (formerly Sable) eviscerating defenders and showcasing her developing basketball mind. She seems to be in a league of her own on the hardwood, operating at a different pace than the competitors around her.

With those handles and achievements we’d love to see Burke take to local basketball courts, Joel Embiid style and cross up some unexpected pedestrians. Though, she’ll probably be too busy for that any time soon due to her broadcasting schedule.

Burke is currently calling her ninth-consecutive NBA Finals as a sideline reporter. She’ll be courtside providing valuable insight as the Cleveland Cavaliers take on the Golden State Warriors in a battle for basketball supremacy, for the fourth consecutive season.

Whether on the call or with the basketball, Burke has seen and done it all.
