Promo nights hosted by minor league baseball teams is fairly common as teams try to push ticket sales while simultaneously keeping up sponsor relations, and there are more and more creative ways of doing it. One of the most popular ways forms of promotion has proven to be special jerseys to set the theme for a night. With Nickelodeon sponsoring a night for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the AA affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, you already knew something fun was going to come out of it.
That turned out to be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle themed jerseys, to be sported by the entire Fisher Cats team – including MLB top prospect Vlad Guerrero Jr.
Anticipating that the Guerrero Jr. jersey would likely be far and away the most popular, the Fisher Cats are adding a special clause to his jersey. While 10 will be available online, his is only available for the fans in attendance.
While some fans, particularly the younger ones, are likely stoked about the idea, Jay and Dan aren’t as impressed by the colourful, cartoon-y threads.
At least they’re better than the D-Backs…
