Hockey players have the power to touch lives, and sometimes it doesn't take much to lift the spirits of others.

For St. Louis Blues Stanley Cup-winning defenceman Vince Dunn, that meant taking Lord Stanley's Cup to the Lindsay, Ontario, hospital to visit Lawny Woodcock.

Lawny was admitted four months ago to the Ross Memorial Hospital following his diagnosis of colon cancer.

A big hockey fan, Woodcock watches the Toronto Maple Leafs from his hospital bed, and after Saturday, his favourite player in the league just might now be Dunn.

The Blues roster consisted of mostly of Canadians, so when his beloved buds were eliminated by the Boston Bruins, Lawny became a Blues fan.

Dunn's mother, Tracy, had worked at the hospital in the past and told her son about how much of a fan Lawny was. That's when Dunn decided to take a stroll to the hospital after the town parade, which understandably made Lawny tear up.

"Just pretty emotional," Lawny told Chris Pinkert of St. Louis Blues.

"Thank you very much, Vince. It means a lot."

Dunn also visited the Sick Kids Hospital and made time for all the children in his hometown to spend time with his friend, Stanley.

And this is why we love hockey today.
