Thiago Santos is an absolute warrior and if you need any proof, then just take a look at the injuries he suffered and played through during UFC 239.
In his light heavyweight fight against Jon Jones, Santos’ team reported the 35-year-old suffered a series of injuries to his left knee, including a torn ACL, MCL, PCL and meniscus. Santos was one judge away from the win after going all five rounds before falling in a split decision.
That’s 25 minutes of fighting on essentially one leg… Wow. Here’s what he had to say following the bout:
The following is an excerpt from TSN.ca.
"I left everything in there even after injuring my knee in the first round," Santos said through a translator after the bout. "I fought four rounds on a southpaw stance, unable to move like I usually move, unable to throw the strikes I usually throw. I didn't shock the world because of those circumstances, but I did what I could do in those conditions and I'm satisfied."
UFC 239 featured a series of wild fights, including one which lasted all but… five seconds. Jorge Masvidal KO’d Ben Askren with a ridiculous flying kick, making it the fastest knockout in UFC history.
UFC fighters are something else.
