It was one of the biggest splashes in the off-season when the Toronto Maple Leafs acquired longtime Colorado Avalanche defenceman Tyson Barrie in a deal sending Nazem Kadri the other way. While it wasnβt necessarily a shocking move from the Avs, as they tried to maximize return on Barrieβs expiring contract, it still brought a lot of heartache in Denver.
Barrie is the franchise defensive leader in goals, assists, and points. He played 484 games with the Avs over the span of eight seasons, averaging nearly 22 minutes of ice time over that span.
When Barrie returned to Pepsi Center for the first time as an opponent, you knew it was going to be a warm welcome.
The fans paid their respects online as well.
