The Dallas Stars haven’t quite lived up to expectations this season and on Friday, Stars CEO Jim Lites took aim at Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn in a profanity-laced rant to The Athletic.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday for the first time since Lites' comments went public, Seguin and Benn revealed that they hadn’t spoken to Lites this season before he went to the media.
Seguin also spoke at length on some of Lites’ specific criticisms, acknowledging that he has to play better and that he isn’t going “wah-wah” over hitting posts as Lites suggested.
All things considered, Seguin and Benn appear to be taking something of a high road in response to Lites. If they had taken a harsher tone, it probably would’ve been understandable considering the tenor of Lites' own comments, but for now it seems to they’ll continue to focus on righting the ship in Dallas.
