It wasn't all good news for Toronto Maple Leafs fans today.
Yes, John Tavares signed a massive contract to play out the majority of his remaining years in Toronto. But Leafs Nation also had to say good-bye to their longtime centre Tyler Bozak.
The 32-year-old spent nine seasons in Toronto and quickly became a household name despite entering the league undrafted. Before making his move, Bozak was asked about living in the big city, and based off of his answer, it appears he's ready for a change of scenery.
The transition was also made easier considering he knew how invested the Leafs were in their pursuit of signing Tavares.
It's tough to blame the guy. Any Torontonian will agree that living downtown can be draining, and combining that with the pressure of playing for one of the biggest and high-pressured markets in the world seems like it’d be impossible while trying to raise a family. A move to St. Louis, a relatively quiet hockey city that still has a strong fan base, seems like a logical fit.
Tavares is obviously the preferred option, but Bozak will still be missed in the 6ix.
