SnapChat works in wondrous ways.
Since 2011, the application has been utilized as a medium for exchanging photos, delivering messages, and producing hilarious filtered pictures. But one Toronto resident has been capitalizing on it in a unique way.
Gabriela Lasky, a recent University of Western Ontario graduate, has been using SnapChat as a canvas for her artwork. This past month, the 22-year-old launched an Instagram account to showcase her work, which includes Bobby Orr’s Stanley Cup leap, Michael Jordan’s Game Five dagger, and Dwight Clark’s infamous catch.
She also made sure to pay homage to her city with an incredible illustration of Joe Carter’s 1993 walk-off home run.
Lasky’s content isn’t limited to just sports, as it also includes portraits of Michael Jackson, Kanye West, and Justin Bieber, to name a few.
Pretty incredible stuff.
The Toronto native draws the photos for fun and claims they originally ‘sucked’. However, her pieces drastically improved after an update was released that allowed users to change the offered brush size. As a result, she began seeing improvements. Lasky uses only her fingers and claims that a face can take between 2-3 hours while a more detailed image can take a full day.
If you’re wondering how you, or other legendary sports moments would look like in the SnapChat world, Lasky is your go-to artist. To see her other stuff, check out tendigitart.
